This is a podcast about being a gay entrepreneur. Among other things, of course...
It wasn't too long ago that participating in a podcast like this would have been impossible for me, in fact for a long time it would have been my worst nightmare.
So the fact that my life is so very different now, where I see this part of my identity as a strength - something I am truly proud of - gives me comfort and confidence where once there was shame and self-doubt. Being my authentic self, both personally and professionally, feels good.
I appreciate we are all on our own journeys, that our lives are never static, and that context really is crucial. So I am truly thankful for all the support I have in my life, for the real people around me that know and love me for who I am, and that allow me to do what I love to do. I hope that I make these people proud, the people that matter most.
If you take a few minutes to listen to this podcast (and I recommend checking out the others in this series) you will hopefully see how important authenticity, inclusivity and equality are to me, in both business and in general. Our mission at Somm Zero is to use the skills we have, and the people we know, to bring about positive change in the wine & hospitality world - so that everybody benefits from more inclusion and better choices, whatever their preference is for alcohol.
I want to say thank you to Dustyn at Rebellious Unicorns, for bringing this project to life and for all the good work that you and your team do in our community. Using our voices and platforms to promote positivity is more important than ever, in the world we live in today - so showcasing positive examples of real people in business, is a truly awesome idea.
So, if you have a few minutes, why not grab a non-alc beer, take a seat, and listen to some things I have to say.
At the very least, my terrible hair day, and my adorable golden retriever Havana provide a baseline level of entertainment, even if I don't...
Cheers,
Alex
